Lost Sierra Fly Guide & Friends of Plumas Wilderness present: Middle Fork Feather River Cleanup 2024

Join Lost Sierra Fly Guide and Friends of Plumas Wilderness in stewarding the beautiful Middle Fork Feather River and helping remove coal that has accumulated along the river banks.

In February 2024, fourteen coal-carrying rail cars derailed along the Middle Fork Feather River, leaving behind scattered coal deposits along the riverbanks (info). Since then, local fly-fishing guide Matt with Lost Sierra Fly Guide has spotted several areas where coal has washed ashore. This fall, Friends of Plumas Wilderness is partnering with Lost Sierra Fly Guide to tackle some cleanup and help restore this beautiful stretch of river.

We invite you to join us in this important effort! Cleanup supplies will be provided, and all are welcome to participate. To help us plan and ensure we cover as much ground as possible, please register using the link below.
